Busselton Jetty Timeline

Today we constructed a timeline of the Busselton Jetty to see how it has changed over the years since it was built.  We had to match the correct year with the correct information and then put it all in order.  When we'd finished, the timeline was so long that it stretched into Room 11!  If you'd like to read it, it is also around the room on the windows and in the wet area.  We found…

Our Assembly

Room 8 entertained the school community with two songs at our assembly towards the end of Term 2. They are pictured here singing “You Are a Star.” This is a great “Build Up” song that encourages students to be  happy with themselves just way they are. They also felt very proud of themselves when they memorised their fun facts about vegetables and spoke confidently in front of the school community. What stars they are and…

Book Week Dress Up

Book dress up day was sooooooo much fun!
I know it sounds totally crazy to try and combine these activities into one project. However that's just what the Room 15 students have managed to do over the last few weeks. They researched about sustainable fishing in WA, designed and made an 'Operation' style game to teach others about responsible fishing. So much learning took place on every level. Playing and evaluating the games was great fun for all.

Recycling with Ring Pulls

Recycling with Ring Pulls   Other than the purpose it was designed for – of what value is the humble Ring Pull?   They can be used to make artificial limbs for people, elephants and eagles. It takes 2,500 ring pulls to produce approximately one kilogram of aluminium and this allows seven sets of joints to be fabricated.   We have been collecting these this year for our recycling project. When we had a huge…

Happy students on jetty train

Lots of happy students enjoying the train trip on the Busselton Jetty. They were fascinated with all the different types of fish that came up to the UWO windows. They made good observations of the coral and sponges on the pylons and after the visit completed art work to look like the pylons covered in coral and sponges.
